Take a few minutes and consider this statement…
“How much do I love me?”
If you could rate yourself out of 10 what would that be?
Do I offer myself, Self-compassionate set of skills?
The majority of us do not. So what is self-Compassion anyway? Well it’s actually something the majority of us are great at offering and giving to “others” All the time… BUT…What about the self, the one person who matters to ourselves? Yes you. You matter.
Next time you make a mistake? Or look in the mirror, take a moment and listen to your own internal dialogue? What are those messages you tell yourself over and over again? Are they kind or mean words? What feelings arise as a result of those words.
Words are power and harsh words can be incredibly damaging against our inner-self. The impact weighs heavily on our self-confidence therefore self-esteem is compromised. Would you speak to your friends and family as harshly as you talk to yourself? If not then why not?
So, to the lovely person who’s reading this, I want you to ask yourself, Am I my own worst critic? If somebody spoke to you as harshly as you speak to you how would you feel towards that person or even react?
I should imagine you would drop them from your life or at least register you need to cut them loose!!! So why do we continue to disrespect and hurt yourself over and over again?
How can I stop doing this to myself you may well ask? Well its all about good positive self-talk and relearning how to talk to yourself AND how to love yourself (as you love others and want others to love us).
Talking therapies does just that it helps build confidence which in turn builds self-esteem and you can learn how to be self-compassionate so you can feel better whilst changing your relationships with yourself.
